16th annual Silver Room Block Party Presents ‘For the Greater Good’, Takes Place in Downtown Hyde Park

On Saturday, July 20, 2019, from 12 Noon – 10 PM, Eric Williams, owner of the Silver Room store, in collaboration with Downtown Hyde Park Chicago, will host the 16th Annual Block Party, along 53rd Street from Lake Park Avenue to Dorchester Avenue.

Interactive programming will include:

^ 10,000 sq. foot roller skating rink in the Hyde Park Bank parking lot (skate rentals will be available)

^ Solar charging stations

^ Film festival in Harper Theater – ‘The Bigger Picture: Chicago Black Media Showcase’, presented by Cinema 53

^ Kids pavilion

^ Basketball tournament (Hyde Park Bank parking lot)

^ Fashion Show

^ Vendor marketplace (including food and beverages)

^ A broad slate of live performances and DJs on the three sound stages

^ An interactive Silver Room Block Party App for latest performance and schedule information

^ Festival and Community Safety Hot-line to report safety and/or maintenance concerns (312) 383-4972

^ Satellite locations: Silver Room Store, Hyde Park Bank Building, Hyde Park Records, and the Promontory

In an effort to minimize traffic congestion, there will be designated Uber/Lyft drop-off and pick-up locations. Moreover, given the popularity of the event, the Silver Room Block Party Committee is strongly encouraging festival goers to consider taking public transit, biking and/or ride sharing.
